Our Property Taxes

Not to step on my wife's toes by posting over hers but the story in today's paper just kills me.

We deserve our money. I thought that once everything washes out the school board or police or anything really is supposed to be budgeted. You have X amount of money to get Y amount done. But apparently that's not the way it works. If you have more money, they will spend it... on something else.

I think we need a reality check or maybe this really is Bizarro World.

It's not Bizarro World, it is the real world - a government that is powerful enough to give you everything you demand is the same one that has the power to take all that you have. Thomas Jefferson, Ben Franklin, George Washington, they all knew it, warned against it, and the folks back then knew it, because they had seen it with their own eyes. Nowadays, folks just demand that guvmint save them, perteckt them, educate their children, clothe them, feed them, house them - and then are surprised when that guvmint takes and spends more and more of their money with impunity, without apology. Welcome to "the common good" - aka slavery by default.

PS please tell Mrs MH to build her own blog so we can read you both!

Funny that you use the term "BIZARRO WORLD"...
That is the EXACT phrase I always use to describe the place all of us normal people NOW reside.
As to when we were all spirited away from our former Earth is anyone's guess, but I think it was sometime during the late 1970s (and perhaps it was a TUESDAY).

I agree that America is hip-deep in "entitlements" and for all the WRONG reasons. We reward bad behavior, laziness, sloth, and apathy and while I won't it "slavery" per se (that's the marketing gurus domain), it most DEFINITELY is...INDENTURED SERVITUDE!
